FAQs

CAN I SEE YOUR WORK IN PERSON?

My latest work is always on view at Sebastopol Gallery, 150 N. Main St., Sebastopol, California. Studio visits can be arranged with advance notice by sending me an email.

ARE YOUR GLAZES LEAD-FREE?

Yes, I make my own glazes and guarantee they are lead-free and safe for daily use at the table and in the kitchen.

CAN I PUT YOUR PIECES IN THE OVEN?

Yes, glazed pieces are  oven- and microwave-safe—just don't take a piece out of the refrigerator and place it directly in a hot oven. To avoid thermal shock never place a hot piece right out of the oven onto a cold tile countertop.

IS YOUR DINNER AND TABLEWARE DISHWASHER SAFE?

Yes, my glazed stoneware pieces are dishwasher safe and meant to be used everyday.

WHAT DOES PIT FIRED MEAN?

Pit fired pieces are hand thrown or formed, burnished several times and then fired in sawdust with fire made from locally gathered wood, seaweed and cow dung. Once fired, the pieces are waxed to seal the surface. Pit fired work is not intended to hold or serve food or for outdoor use.

CAN I COMMISSION WORK FROM YOU?

Yes, if you wish to place a custom order, please send a descriptive email, including a similar image if possible and we can discuss your project in detail. However, due to the natural processes inherent in ceramics, there may be slight differences between pieces in a set. The nature of handmade ceramics embraces these slight variations.
